How to Kill Fleas
If you’ve ever dealt a bad case of fleas in your home, you know it can be one of the worst nightmares imaginable. Fortunately, there are a few simple steps you can follow that are very effective for flea control. For best results, though, you’re going to have to be very dedicated to the strategy.
The first thing to do is treat your pet for fleas. Most vets will prescribe Frontline to treat your pet for fleas. Both dogs and cats can be treated with Frontline, which comes in small, convenient containers. Spread the hair near the shoulders and apply to the skin. Frontline will kill fleas for a month afterwards. For younger pets, be sure to consult your veterinarian about what products and methods are best for treating puppy and kitten fleas.
The fleas in your home are the next target in the flea control program. As much as you can, wash everything with hot water and laundry detergent. Next, fire up the vacuum cleaner and thoroughly clean your carpets. Do this every day if you can. Regular work with your vacuum cleaner is the best way to get rid of fleas, as well as eggs and larva.
Step three is to repeat this process. If your pet stops scratching, don’t stop treating them. If you think you’re gotten rid of the fleas in your home, keep vacuuming regardless. You can also use some spot sprays or flea foggers on your carpets and areas your pet frequents. The most important thing is to keep at it. You might think you’re rid of the fleas, only to find that you’ve been re-infested because you didn’t stick with it.
Fleas can be tenacious and hard to get rid of, but with careful work and dedication, you can be free of them.It can be really tough to get rid of fleas sometimes. Just don’t give up, or let down your guard. We wish you the best, and a flea-free life.
